Comedian and author David Walliams lost his contract with publishing house.

The comedian

Prolific young adult author and TV personality David Walliams has parted ways with his UK book publisher, as confirmed by the firm.

A spokesman for the publisher said: "Following a thorough review, and following the appointment of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish any new titles by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the decision was taken subsequent to an review of claims about inappropriate behaviour directed at women.

The company declined to specify the motivations for this action, adding: "It is not our policy to discuss private personnel issues."

An Illustrious Literary Career

Walliams stands as a most prolific writers for young readers, having sold in excess of 60 million copies globally in 55 languages.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, was published by HarperCollins in 2008.

Several of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as small-screen adaptations.

He has published more than 40 books in total, which features a Christmas book called *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins last autumn.

Television and Literature

His career breakthrough occurred on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his work as a judge on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was made an OBE back in 2017 in recognition of his work for charity and the arts.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive in October.
